Abstract
This work is about the topic of gender violence in the phases of assistance and management in the Emergency Departement of women who have suffered violence. Violence against women is a violation of human dignity and, in its worst form, violates the right to life; it is also an extreme expression of inequality based on sex. This phenomenon is complex and charged with different implications both for those who suffer from it, and for those who are called upon to intervene on it. Women who have suffered violence are people who may have clinical, psychological, social, legal problems; for this reason it is necessary a holistic, multidisciplinary and professional assistance to allow a better overcoming of the trauma. In the first part the concept of gender violence, its implications, the risk factors, the different types of violence, the dynamics of the "violence" event and its authors was analyzed.
In the second part I will talk about the spread of the phenomenon by offering an analysis on the data of Emilia-Romagna and Italy, then move on to a worldwide look.
In the third part I moved on to analyze the role that health structures and their professionals have in welcoming and assisting women who have suffered violence. I've tryed to talk about the multiprofessional approach that is put in place against the victim within the territorial network and more specifically the path that is done in the Emergency Departement from the Triage to the activation of local services after discharge.
During the writing of this thesis I created an informative brochure in Italian and three informative posters in Italian, English and Arabic that can be consulted by users on the walls of the waiting room of the Emergency Room of Vignola containing information regarding gender violence, the role of First Aid and reference telephone numbers.
