Abstract
This elaborate analyzes the most frequent and disabling complications of chemotherapy treatments in patients affected by acute myeloid leukemia. It starts with a description of the disease, and then focuses on the complications of treatments and the nursing management. The goal is to show a complete view of a patient's care needs when he's under chemotherapy, and to underline the complementarity among technical, educational and preventive skills. The review is built on the reworking of guide lines and scientific articles found on Databases like UpToDate, PubMed and Cinhal, searched using Google Scholar. The last chapter elaborates on a care's plan about a patient affected by acute myeloid leukemia, using NANDA-I, NOC and NIC taxonomy, and emphasizes the need of a holistic nursing care which makes patients and caregivers the main characters in the caring process.
