Abstract
This thesis deals with the role of the nurse in the management and care of the person suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, chronic and systemic inflammatory disease which mainly affects the diarrhedral joints, with a high disabling potential and a consequent reduction in quality of life. Rheumatoid arthritis is a complex condition, both from the diagnostic-therapeutic point of view, and from the assistance point of view since the needs of people affected by this pathology cover every sphere of daily life and work. In this picture emerges the figure of the nurse who in numerous international and national studies, such as the State-Regions agreement, is defined as the pivotal figure in assistance to the person affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis. As proof of this, seventeen Nursing Sensitive Outcomes (NSO) have been identified, meaning sensible outcomes to nursing care, in which the nurse's intervention can have a significant impact on the evolution of these outcomes. From this point of view, nurse-led care is born, which takes place in the Nurse-led clinics, places managed exclusively by nurses, where the holistic approach to care is particularly valued, based on the centrality of the person in defining the care path and taking in charge.
