Abstract

Surgical site infections represent one of the most detectable complications associated with the surgery, as well as the most studied typology of infection related to the assistance.
The prevention of surgical site infection represent a basic objective for the health care workers.
During the post-operative period is required to the nurse a particular attention to the clinical practice, but also to the care and educational aspect addressed to the patient, to his family, to the colleagues and to the others health professions.
Through the results of a survey carried out using primary and secondary scientific databases, and using internet resources like internet sites and Google scholar, this final report would illustrate the practical and educational aspects that the nurse has to apply to prevent the surgical site infections of the post-operative.
The main results obtained show the value of washing hands and the right execution of the medication, related to others relevant technical aspects, as well as an exhaustive education for the patient and the caregiver.
