Abstract

Burning accidents are currently among the leading causes of death and disability in the pediatric population range between 0 and 4 years of age.
To promptly address the patient with thermal injury to the most appropriate treatment setting, it is necessary to establish the severity of the lesions in the emergency phase based on an overall assessment that takes into account the mechanism that caused the burn, extension, depth and anatomical location of the lesions.
This text is the result of a review of the literature carried out in the main scientific databases, journal articles and authoritative textbooks.
The objective is to analyze the peculiar aspects of nursing care to the burned pediatric patient to meet the health needs of the child and the family with a global and holistic care of the person, based on knowledge updated and validated scientifically in order to guarantee effective and personalized care.
Finally, the main nursing diagnoses are reported and it is proposed an example of standard care planning using the NANDA-I, NOC and NIC taxonomy.
