Abstract
Stroke is the third cause of death in Italy and the main disability reason (Ministero della salute, 2013). A variety of symptoms may appear depending on the cerebral area that was hit, not only physical, but also psychic symptoms, and the nurse must be able to manage them through a personalised welfare planning. Prefrontal cortex damage can cause depressive syndroms, manic states or personality disorders. This can cause discomfort to the patient and to caregivers too; that's why this paper analyses performances which can be given to the patient as well as to his/her caregivers. The life quality of the patient and his/her family can be improved through nursing performances based upon cognitive-behavioural therapy that aim to express a change in cognitive and emotional disfunctional processes.
