Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to deepen the concept of quality of life and to emphasize the importance of measuring this parameter in patients with terminal illness, in view of the increase in population of chronic degenerative pathologies.
It is therefore appropriate to ensure proper care for these patients by setting up with them an effective helping relationship that allows to understand their main needs and that promotes the protection and respect of the patient dignity, even in the last stages of his life.
The nurse, in the context of palliative care, protects the humanity and the maintenance of the highest quality of life of the patient, who is the real protagonist of assistance and care.
