Abstract
The topic discussed in this degree thesis explain the use of ultrasounds by nurses, a method not yet used in the nursing profession.
The regulations currently in force do not determine the exclusive use by medical staff or radiologists, but also allow it to be used by nursing staff, after appropiate training. Ultrasonography in the nursing profession has many applications: it can be used as a support for invasive procedures such as the introduction of bladder catheters or venous access; it is also very useful to investigate the presence of liquids in the chest and/or addominal cavity, to evaluate the pulmonary pattern and to determine the presence of a bladder globe. This kind of investigation is especially helpful for Fist Aid nurses, who can give the triage the right priority code more accurately.
In this thesis we want to show how the ultrasound device is an instrument that can improve the quality of nursing care. International evidence is full in content that shows the excellent results achieved by using the ecografist, with prospects of encouraging future evolution.
