Abstract

Organ and tissue transplantation is the product of a multidisciplinary course,  and managing the work of multiple operators belonging to different hospital units requires an organizational model efficiently to ensure its proper performance. In Italy co-ordination is divided into four levels: national, interregional, regional and local levels, and the most widespread model is that of TPM-Transplant Procurement Management. This quantitative transversal study aims to investigate in the province of Modena the presence of TPM specialists nurses engaged in Procurement, their formation, skills and emotions experienced. The survey was carried out at hospitals Policlinico of Modena, Sant'Agostino-Estense of Baggiovara and Ramazzini of Carpi, by administering an anonymous questionnaire to a sample of 25 nurses. The analysis of the data shows no homogeneity both in formation and skills, and most operators stated that play this role can sometimes lead to a stressor also for the extra work context, but they consider themselves satisfied overall. These results may be explained by sample inhomogeneities primarily in terms of belonging to different operating units, so different tasks are request, and by the absence of a dedicated team: they are nurses who perform simultaneously Procurement and Department activities, and whose workload is therefore increased. In conclusion the results, despite the limited and heterogeneous sample can be considered satisfactory, and it also considers that they can be a springboard for new studies on the subject.
