Abstract
The aim of this work is to evaluate the nutritional state of a patient under hemodialysis and what the patient will have to modify about their diet; for this purpose we need the cooperation of a multidisciplinary team (nephrologist, nutritionist, nurse, psychologist) that will lead the patient trough their path.
The thesis discusses the excesses or lacks of malnutition as a real and serious problem of people under replacement therapy.
A total control of a patient who suffers from chronic kidney disease is vital from the first stages of the disease, in order to try to avoid complications like malnutrition.
Finally, it identifies four nursing diagnosis with related aims and interventions.
Patients under chronic dialytic treatment, both extracorporeal (HD) and peritoneal (CAPD) are frequently subject to a state of protein
energy malnutrition.
Moreover, it studies the evaluation of the nutritional state through the utilization of the SGA (Subjective Global Nutritional Assessment), an instrument able to identify both the presence and the gravity of a supposed state of malnutrition of the patient under hemodialysis.
