Abstract

This literature bibliography analysis wants to investigate what documents are available on the management and treatment of chronic and pressure wounds in palliative care patient. As a search query a PICO has been structured as follows: P-home palliative care patient, I-management of injury with palliative approach, C-regional management protocol for chronic and pressure injury, O-identification of a protocol for the management and the treatment of injuries to the patient under palliative care. I used EBN method for the research. The sources found were 108 and among them I selected those published from 2006 onwards. From the selection I found: 5 sources in Summaries and 18 sources in single studies. From this analysis results that the main goal for P.C.P. is not the injury healing but, most of all, the goals will be the quality of life and the wishes of the patients and their carers. After that we have to manage all the primary and secondary symptoms that could  interfere with the patients and their carers' Quality of Life. It is crucial, with this kind of patients,  to have an holistic approach and also to rely on the collaboration of all professional specialists that are important for the patient's care. It is also important to consider the injury etiology and the clinical condition and prognosis of the disease in order to plan realistic goals and well-tolerated intervention. The end of the curing intervention is not meaning no care. A depth study  could be helpful on this matter and, for the near future, the development of a guideline for palliative home care.
