Abstract
In the last few years many parents have decided not to vaccinate their children against diphtheria, polio, tetanus and other communicable diseases. The analysis of the Italian Deontological Code of the healthcare assistant points out that any nurses
must administer vaccines even if this goes against their moral code. Thats why I decided to carry out a cognitive survey to find out whether this phenomenon is increasing among the population of Modena. So I proceeded by means of an opinion poll concerning vaccines on a parents sample (120 people involved) through a questionnaire approved by region of Veneto. I sent them an e-mail containing the questionnaire and the consent form to fill in. Then I analysed data after having received all the questionnaires. This small survey showed that among the 100 parent who accepted to take part to the compiling, each one of them was in favour of
vaccinations. As for the remaining 20, they decided not to fill in the questionnaire and it is for this reason that we will never know whether they are for or against vaccinations. The response of the 100 parents is positive to vaccines, even though
they claim to know some children that havent been vaccinated. This last information highlights the fact that the number of people opposed to vaccines is increasing. Therefore, one of the aims of my graduate thesis is the chance that this research
could be extended to region of Emilia-Romagna in the near future so that we could have a proper comparison with region of Veneto.
