Abstract
My dissertation deals with the topic of Acute Myeloid Leukemia and it is also about the male nurse’s role in the nursing of patients afflicted with haematological neoplasm.
In the first chapter, it is expressed the definition of what leukemia is, the classification according to the French-American-British (FAB) and the World Health Organization (WHO), the risk factors, the physiopathology and also its clinical manifestations, the diagnosis and the therapeutic treatment.
The second chapter concerns the importance of the nursing service, taking on responsibility of patient’s care in a global way, from the education to the patient and to the family about how dealing with the therapeutic and diagnostic path, to the management of complications related to the therapeutic treatment, through a relationship of confidence, help and collaboration between the person and the professional involved.
In the end, in the third and last chapter a plan of assistance was developed and were also mentioned the nursing diagnosis that have priority, with the respective resultants and interventions, according to the taxonomy NANDA-I, NOC and NIC.
