Abstract

The following paper will focus on a rare disease: amyloidosis. Statistical every year an estimated 50 000 people worldwide fall ill;  in Italy it is estimated about 800 new cases a year. In particular,  America results to be the country with the higher peak in amyloidosis clinical cases, with about 3000 cases every year.
Because of nonspecific symptoms and reduced knowledge, due to the rarity of the disease, amyloidosis is often diagnosed at an advanced stage and, at the moment, there are no diagnostic and therapeutic protocols shared by the entire scientific community.
The slow down and delay the progression of symptoms may be possible only by acting through the right therapies and the activities of daily living.
In the thesis we have been developed all aspects that allow us to learn about the disease, diagnosis, treatment and the symptoms associated with it. The aim is to highlight the crucial role that education, carried out by the nursing staff, care for the lives of the patients with this disease. Therapeutic education that the nurse can do, take on a role of great importance to check the severity of symptoms, improving the quality of life of the person.
For this reason we created a brochure, on the most common and disabling symptoms of the disease, to be delivered at the end of educational process in order to make it more independent at home cared and caregivers.
