Abstract
The aim of this composition is to address about Elder Abuse that represent a real human
rights violation wich must be guaranteed and protected. The focus is double. On one side
its to descibe Elder Abuse in order to expand nurses awarness in view of their preferred
role as supporter of personal wellness studying the complicated nature of the problem,
the different types of abuse, the contexts and the signs to control, the possible risk and
protective factors in a multidimensional and ecological prospective. On the other side its
to present a summary of the newest RNAOs guideline with the purpose to overcome
intervention limits and provides evidence-based recommendations for preventing and
addressing abuse and neglect in all heath-care settings. At first this guideline consider
practice area to advice health-care providers for an individualized, holistic and proactive
plan of care in a multiprofessional approach; education recommendations concern the
requirement of a mandatory and continuous training for health-care providers to improve
technical and interpersonal skills and to support coping with difficulties and ethical
dilemmas too; finally recommendations for government, organization and social system.
The guideline is the starting point for a necessary future research that fill the
acknowledge gap and the lack of available data, and it requires a systematic adaptation
to the specific local context and operational area.
