Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to speak about of one of the most frequent domestic accidents that occur: burns. Burns represent a widespread problem that mainly affects children between the age of 0-4. The thesis describes the general nursing care of pediatric patients with burns, from the actions that have to be implemented at the time of the first aid to those actions that involve the permanence of child in the hospital, such as wound management, the recovery of the normal functions and the psychological aspect of child and family. Is also treated the theme of pain, its detection and when a pharmacological treatment in necessary or not. Another key objective of this thesis is to describe how the burn accidents can be prevented. In order to avoid them are necessary educational interventions address to caregivers, to sensitize them about the dangers that child could be subjected. For this reason has been produced an information brochure address to parents, that contains advice that should be followed every day to prevent these accidents. Moreover it contains simple first aid actions that have to be performed when the incident occur.
