Abstract

One of the main objectives of this degree thesis is to highlight how important it is for a nurse, to be able to identify the necessities physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual of the patient with ostomy in the context of multiculturalism and difficult social integration.
Ideally it would be to promote and spread the use of the Stoma QOL (Quality Of Life), an international validated questionnaire specifically designed to evaluate the quality of life of patients, sadly underused in Italy, which makes it possible to compare and evaluate the work for these patients. According to the study reported in this work, the identification of the quality of life, satisfaction with the care received, trust in management and the relationship with the nurse, seem to affect the patient. Other findings suggest that education to the patient over time, improve greatly the confidence in himself and in managing the ostomy care, according to precise indicators of improved quality of life.
Another key objective, in addition to the recognition of needs, is to enhance the role of the nurse should discuss and Department in addressing the change suffered by the person together with the latter, without abandoning it, sostendendola and helping it in or reintegrate into society from which it was excluded by accepting the new reality. Emotional support, empathetic listening, verbal and non, are foundations of nursing role to make therapeutic education to enhance the self-esteem of the client, security in the knowledge and management of the ostomy.
