Abstract
The results have reported clear differences in the onset of eating disorder. In particular Arabs, Afro-Americans and population of the Pacific Islands have presented trends to the development of binge-eating with subsequent obesity, unlike the occidental and Asiatic population that have developed an increased rate of anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Also Latinos have reported more cases of binge-eating due to intercultural strife. The thesis shall also contain the classification, the risk factor and the treatment of eating disorder. In addition, it is analyzed the figure of the nurse in this context and bringing the nursing diagnosis NANDA-I.
The purpose of the thesis is to identify a possible connection between the occurrence of eating disorder and the culture.
The research is based on information of some databases such as PubMed and Up-to-date, using terms like CULTURE and EATING DISORDER in order to get the fullest possible information about different populations.
The thesis has also shows material provided from censuses of ISTAT and from the book concerning transcultural nursing and the care at the psychiatric patients.
This conflict is due to the presence of different value proposed by the different country and the value transmitted by the originating country.
