Abstract

The D.M 739/94 defines nursing assistance of relational and educational character. The application fields of counselling and health promotion are revealing as various and different among them, thus in the last years, a particular development of nurses as counsellor has occurred, with a thorough purpose: teaching people how to keep a correct lifestyle.
A bond grounded in trust and empathy starts between blood donator and nurses, a real helping relationship promoting the awareness of one’s healthy state and of the act of blood donating.
This thesis looks particularly into the nurses’ counselling role inside the voluntary blood donation world. In such reality it is essential that the donator keeps a healthy standard of living, for himself and for whom whose lives he will save donating his blood. However, not
every blood donator has the right knowledges to pursue this aim: is nursing staff’s duty to take the donator up for addressing him to its assistance activities.
Nurses use their thinking critically ability to detect nursing diagnoses, classified under taxonomy NANDA-I, and formulation of an assistance project with targeted and suitable interventions (NOC and NIC).
