Abstract

Research Significance. In the recent decades, a dramatic increase in the number of people, who need the emergency services, has been experienced. The Emergency Room (E.R.) overcrowding phenomenon leads to negative consequences, such as: increased average waiting times, health risk failure, discomfort, and negative quality perception by both the patients and the health care professionals. The objective of this Thesis is the implementation analysis of the Fast Track Strategy in the E.R., as a viable solution for low complex clinical procedures, in order to decrease the E.R. overcrowding. Methodology. After a research focused on Pubmed and Cochraine Library, the latest scientific pubblications, about the Fast Track Strategy in the E.R., were analyzed. Considerations. The papers analyzed confirm that the Fast Track strategy applied in the E.R. results in a decrease of the overvrowding phenomenon. The Fast Track implementation in the E.R. must include a careful analysis of: work load in the E.R., training and appropriate documentation. Conclusions. The successfull implementation of the Fast Track Strategy in the E.R. leads with the nurse professional figure taking a high level of responsability. The nurse must have specific training to ensure the patient safety, developing the appropriate tools to guarantee the correct evaluation of the patient.
