Abstract
Relevance of the matter. A fair percentage of patient that reaches the emergency room needs a period of clinic observation, to allow the definition of the correct clinical and care pathway. The subject of the thesis is the analysis of the activity of Short Stay Observation in the Emergency Room. Method. It was analyzed the activity of Short Stay Observation in the Emergency Room of Nuovo Ospedale Civile S.Agostino-Estense of USL hospital company in Modena, with reference to nurse’s work protocols. The aim of the thesis is the analysis of nurse’s role in the management of patients retained for Short Stay Observation. Conclusions. The presence of nurse’s procedures for the management of patients in Short Stay Observation is critical to ensure effectiveness of health care and patient safety.
