Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to emphasize the importance of therapeutic education to the

person in peritoneal dialysis, because it becomes relevant to the improvement of its life quality.

The nurse proves to be the cornestone figure of the educational process and he provides the

appropriate tools to the patient to promote its wellness, state of health and self-care capacity

through focused interventions. In the sanitary context, the Health Literacy represents an

instrument to develop the people's ability to get and understand the necessary information

about health to access to sanitary performances and/or adopt an healthy life style accurately.

From the nurse's point of view, to focus the attention on how communicate to the assisted

person becomes important, confirming that it understands and that the language has been

understandable. The feedback that nurse must request becomes indispensable to guarantee

the person's security, to facilitate its capacity of self-management of the disease and to allow

the efficient use of time. Therefore, the objective is to create a confidence relationship between

the nurse and the person in peritoneal dialysis in order to obtain the therapeutic adherence

guaranteeing an effective communication. For this reason, it is necessary develop a not

standardized educational plan which arranges to the psychological, cultural and attitudinal

features of the person and of its family. As support of different educational interventions, it is

been created a informative brochure for the patient in peritoneal dialysis about diet, since a

good alimentary education in nephropathic patients slows down the chronic kidney disease's

progression keeping or getting a good health.
