Abstract
The choice of this dissertation ha as an aim the effectiveness and the validity
of the "antibiotic prophylaxis protocol" in cardiac surgery implemented by
private accreditated Hesperia Hospital Modena S.p.A. and nursing role related
to it.
The infection control relate to the type of service receipt, in this case based i
guide lines of the protocol, it is considered an objective responsibility of the
entire multi-professional team, im which the nurse plays its part.
This is a research dissertation, based on the analysis of 100 cases randomly
selected among patients operated cardiac surgery, consists of 4 total and so
structured chapters: the first chapter develops an introduction on medicines
and their use; in the second chapter describes the antibiotics, their use, the
antibiotic-resistance and the importance of the antibiotic prophylaxis; the third
chapter the nurse's role and finally in the fourth chapter explains the purpose of
research, case studies and the conclusions with the results obtained.
