Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to describe the importance of proper nursing care to a patient undergoing amputation of the lower limb. The paper intends to explain how traumatic is a loss of a limb and how this has a negative impact on all the activities of daily life of the patient. The amputation causes a trauma not only physical but also psychological, arousing feelings such as anger, fear, anxiety and loss of self-esteem. It is essential therefore the nursing intervention, which aims to complete reacquisition of autonomy of the assisted, restoring confidence and trust in it. The paper highlights the clinical path that makes the patient. The first phase is the preparation for surgery with all examinations and investigations into the case. The second phase includes the post-operative care, or rather all actions that ensure the prevention of complications and the subsequent recovery of the patient. The last phase represents the physical and psychological rehabilitation of the patient after the trauma and social reintegration of it. The thesis wants to emphasize the independence and professionalism of the nursing figure, and highlight the importance of its role in ensuring a correct identification of the patient's needs, and implement measures to ensure proper care and personalized.
