Abstract
The ultrasound is becoming an increasingly important tool for nursing figure, since it allows the improvement of techniques performed first without the aid of this, while, especially in the emergency-urgency field, means that the practitioner acquires more autonomy and the patient be recognized as soon as critical conditions that require a timely intervention. Of course being an instrument that until a few years ago it was not used by the nurses, it needs adequate theoretical and practical training before they can become skilled in using it. In this treatise is a review of national and international literature was performed illustrating the basics of ultrasound and its fields of application for the nursing professionals.
