Abstract

This thesis aims to give an overview of the Neonatal Resuscitation process with particular emphasis on the role played by nurses within the resuscitation team. This research results from a literature review based on the most updated international guidelines. The text highlights different aspects of the neonatal reanimation world: first of all what it is about, with the analysis of the evaluation criteria to proceed with this such procedure and the algorithm issued by the 2010’s guidelines. Afterwards it is clarify the training that the nurse must apprehend to cope the emergency, followed by the role that the same deal with in a reanimation team. It is then referred to some ethical aspects, focusing on the involvement of parent in such a dramatic eventuality and the stress of the nurse in making decisions morally, ethically and juridically correct. This speech is then concluded with legislation aspects, which are followed by hospitals, issued by the Ministry of Health.
The intent of this work is to show the responsibilities that the nurse has against to the neonatal patient and the nursing care that is called to perform in order to ensure a proper execution of the procedure.
