Abstract

Venous leg ulcers are a common phenomenon that is often the cause of a reduced quality of life because of the destabilizing effects that affect the physical sphere and consequently the psychological one. The purpose of this thesis is to deepen the assistance to patients with venous leg ulcers, by studying the potential causes, the clinical assessment and the treatement through the research and reading of the articles and documents, and the formulation of a standard nursing care plan with NANDA I, NOC and NIC taxonomy. The several articles used to gain this aim were found in different databases and they were read and selected. The results of this research are that the assessment may be performed holistically, because this patology damages not only the physical component but also the psychological one that is often underestimated. The compression therapy is considered the Gold Standard both for the terapeutic and preventive aim and it’s possible to combine this treatment with other therapeutic strategies to improve the condition of the wound.
