Abstract
The ischaemic stroke is due to blockage of an artery in the brain by a blood clot and it can happen suddenly or bit by bit. This thesis aims to provide a definition of acute ischaemic stroke, an emergency time-related that needs to be treated in a specific area of the hospital. The Stroke Unit is the specialized ward where this kind of patients are treated by a multi professional team. The key point of the script is focalized on the description of endovascular thrombolysis, nowadays the only pharmacological effective therapy managed by the nurse under medical prescription.
It has been underlined the importance of nursing, starting from those practical aspects, as monitoring, evaluating and surveillance of the patient, to describe in detail the psychological support that it’s given to the person and care givers.
