Abstract
The thesis is proposed to elaborate nursing handling of patient with tracheostomy. In this instance the therapeutic course of the patient under total latyngectomy will be shown. Regarding the bibliographic research, advantage has been taken of updated literary sources and guidelines from scientific and psychological subjects. Concerning nursing vocation, articles from famous databases, such as PubMed and Cinhal, have been analysed. In this thesis all the stages of the therapeutic course are described, from the taking in charge to the discharge, with the aim to deepen the patient management complexity who, besides having to deal with the disease, radiation treatment, surgery and tracheostomy, will no longer have his voice: fundamental ability for communication. Larynx cancer, even though has good chance of recovery compared to other types of tumor, cause a serious psychological trauma in the patient that could lead to depression, aggravating factor of his general conditions. Nurse, as evidenced, will have an important role both as professional and as psychological expert. We will see that on a excellent therapeutic education, not only for the patient but also for the family, will depend a gradual recovery and improvement of the physiological functions as well as an improvement of living standard. Moreover, as a point of strength, volunteering associations made up of people with laryngectomy, that sustain the patient from the take in to the discharge and after that especially, were born.
