Abstract
Patients hit by avalanche undergo several difficulties that put their life at risk; such as hypothermia, major trauma and asphyxia.
In cooperation with CNSAS (Alpine Rescue and Speleological National Units), the operating path and intervention strategy undertaken by health workers, and by nurses in particular, are both extremely important in order to find, unearth and help the patient.
This paper focuses on the so-called “avalanche diseases” and rescue procedures in hostile work environment, because of which the nurse must have clinical care skills and technical mountaineering capabilities.
