Abstract
The following dissertation will underline the importance of guidelines to improve pain handling and treatment, starting from the fundamental assumption that the child has to be helped in dealing with difficult situations.
Mentions will be made to the development of nanoceptive segments in newborns and the transmission of the pain stimulus. The different forms of pain will be analyzed based on their characteristics. Children are, in effect, subject to different varieties of pain. Subsequently, evaluation methods and scales for each age range will be dealt with.
The antalgic treatment during childhood will be evaluated, considering its methods for controlling pain: pharmacological and non- pharmacological therapies (natural remedies, playing, distractions) aimed at eliminating fear and pain from the childs mind, leveraging on their imaginative inclination and creativity.
Finally, reference will be made to Drepanocytosis, a disease in which pain covers a fundamental role. The occurrence of this illness is significant across the province of Modena, and the Pediatric Department of Modenas Policlinico welcomes various cases of affected children each year.
