Abstract
Assistance to the hospitalized child approach , the relationship and communication with the latter and the members of his family are of primary importance for the process of care. A child with whom you can not build a relationship of trust, empathy , in which the parent or family do not become accomplices of the figure of the nurse or health that is working him, not hardly ever give his consent to invasive maneuvers on himself, not even for the most simple and painless. This will present a risk to the child, which although possibly understand their disease state, to live the moments spent in hospital as traumatic moments in which you feel vulnerable and where he can not understand why people beyond his life focus so much on him so, from his point of view, negative. Many times, distracted by the rush or the routine of work in the department, many health professionals, especially those not used to the contact with the children, tend to ignore or belittle the fundamental importance of the relational approach to the child, focusing traumatic for the child himself and family, only clinical and mechanistic aspects of care, generating fear and anxiety in the young patient and his loved ones. With this paper you will, through a literature review, list what are the key issues for a good relationship with the hospitalized child and the family, focusing on the different stages of evolutionary development ( under which changes, in a consistent manner how to relate ), methods of communication, and the concept of family centered care.
