Abstract
This document aims to investigate the assistance to the patient with Alzheimer's disease, in particular it regards the management of the home. The person who is not affect by dementia is able to shape his behavior, his decisions, his lifestyle, according to the physical and social environment. The patient with Alzheimer's disease sees vanish gradually, over the years, and with the progression of the disease, skills that allow him to interact with people and things, becoming more dependent on others and on the physical environment. The environment plays an extremely influential role regarding behavioral disorders, therefore it is very important questioning ourselves on how to transform it.
Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative process that causes a slow and progressive destruction of brain cells in specific areas of the central nervous system.
The key features of the disease are the insidious onset and the gradual progression of symptoms.
"At every stage of the disease, the environment can offset (assuming a valence prosthetic) or otherwise accentuate cognitive deficits", actively influencing the functional state and the behavior of the person.
