Abstract

This thesis aims to analyze the Shaken Baby Syndrome. More precisely, an adult who repeatedly and violently shakes an infant by holding the chest. The intent, in most cases, is to stop the incessant crying baby not including the adult as a natural element in the first months of life. Analyzing the phenomenon in all its parts, you want to highlight an issue that has extremely serious consequences for the newborn, but which today is still poorly understood. Shows the risk factors, the signs and symptoms, the legal aspects, nursing and especially going to emphasize the fundamental role of prevention. In fact, the aim of this thesis is to point out how the lack of knowledge and lack of prevention should be replaced by training programs for nurses which subsequently will educate parents, because they provide a proper education and information about issue we have seen leads to a decrease in maltreatment.
Finally, it is reported a case that allows a light of the information previously provided, to make a comparison with what has been learned and evaluate whether the interventions that have been put in place are consistent and fair with what you should do.
