Abstract
The importance and relevance of the problem of the toxicology investigation in the emergency room, especially from Art. 186-187 CDS places the issue of clarity and uniqueness of nursing procedures related to it. After a careful analysis of the law and main aspects of clinical care on this issue, we analyzed responsibilities and nursing skills in performing such activity. Comparing some example of procedures currently in place at various Italian AUSL and, in particular, we analyzed the histories of all the toxicological tests of the year 2012 performed in the emergency room of Mirandola (MO). The data observed that the toxicological findings procedures currently in force do not appear to be defined in a clear, comprehensive and unique nursing action mode in any phase of the following activities: in acceptance to triage in the execution of the biological sampling in the chain of custody, in the proper fill up of the forms and transmission of reports to the judicial authorities.
