Abstract

This thesis deals with stress and stressful life events in which the operators and, in particular, nurses undergo in the course of their career, but focuses especially on nurses who perform their service in oncology. The cancer patient is very complex, and because of this need and provides a complete and going to meet all the spheres of the person, the biological, psychological, social and spiritual; therefore it is essential that nurses have the skills as well as technical, communication and emotional too. The long and steady relationship with this typological user, however, can result in emotional distress of nurses in the long run can lead to the depletion of the person and the lack of motivation at work. Continued exposure to stressful events, if not handled well by the person lived and if bad, are risk factors for burnout.The burnout syndrome, which is spreading more and more in health care, in fact, is determined by chronic exposure to stressful events, which bring the person to emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced self-esteem training, and develops various phases. Other risk factors for the development of burnout as well as the relationship with the patient, are the vulnerability of operator to stressful situations and organizational factors operating unit. In addition, to influence the development or less job stress and burnout are the coping strategies put in place by the nurses.
To ensure optimal care is essential to prevent and limit the user burnout in operators. It should be noted, moreover, that burnout is not only in the individual nurse, but may also involve the entire team.
