Abstract
The thesis sets out to examine in depth responsibilities and awareness of nurses relatively to the present and complex phenomenon of children abuse. The bibliography leverages literary sources pertaining to the Humanities as well as of legal subject. The main source used for articles about the nursing profession were field-specific data bases such as PubMed and Cinhal. This study choses to focus and somewhat is limited to pre-schoolers and school-age children, the most vulnerable age. A few criticalities and information gaps about the topic emerged over the course of the research, as well as a better awareness of the important role nurses can play in prevention and treatment of child abuse situations. A greater knowledge of procedures to follow and how to establish a relationship with the minor and with the family can help the nurse handle complex emotions and identifying effective support strategies. The management of a child abuse case requires a multidisciplinary, faceted approach.
