Abstract
In this thesis, it is treated as the main topic of nursing care to patient with bipolar disorder, but making a brief summary on the history of psychiatry and the changes that have occurred over the centuries until today, devoting a chapter to the figure of the nurse psychiatric. I have therefore focused upon the importance of nurses in psychiatry, their evolution, as "keepers of fools," to professionals, with an important role and relevance in the management of the psychiatric patient.
In conclusion, after having dealt with more specifically bipolar disorder, the classification of the disorder, therapy, until the relation with the bipolar patient, I decided to put a care plan (with the use of the taxonomy NANDA-I, NOC, and NIC) on a patient with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, witnessed during my internship at the operating unit Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment (SPDC) Civil Hospital S. Agostino-Estense in Modena.
