Abstract

Introduction: Major trauma of pelvis is a major injury, which can endanger the patient's life, especially if associated with hypovolemic shock.
Objectives: In this dissertation, we evaluated whether the care offered to patients suffering from this type of trauma, accepted to the Emergency Room of Baggiovara, was in line with the international scene and if the nurse had an independent role in its management.
Methods: In the first part, through the research in databases such as: PubMed, Cinailh, Scupus, Up to date and consulting the various texts relating to the emergency, we analyzed through the literature point of view, the severe trauma of the pelvis, and their consequences, in particular, hypovolemic shock . The second part describe the approach to trauma, comparing the international approach to Baggiovara’s one.
In the last part of the document, we analyzed the cases of major pelvis trauma treated during 2013 in the ED of NOCSAE, using the program PSNet, picking up timing, the hemodynamic values and the services provided to the patients.
Conclusions: In conclusion we can say that the protocols implemented in this PS are updated with the guidelines offered worldwide and follow the gold standard in terms of care.
Regarding to the role of the nurse: if worldwide is considered as a fundamental referee for patients care, in Italy and specifically to the ED of NOCSAE he does’t assume completely this undeniable role.
