Abstract

INTRODUCTION: the scientific community is shifting its interest in the welfare of the person and the search for unconventional methods to achieve it.
AIM: the study illustrates what music therapy, in what way is carried out and what are the professionals and the contexts in which it can be applied. Compared to what is evaluated whether it might be able to bring benefits and to what extent, in favor of an improved state of well-being of individuals, also aims to determine what are the implications for nursing practice.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: for the investigation of the sources used for the creation of this thesis, we made use of textbooks, articles and reviews listed in databases such as The Cochrane Library, Cinahl and PubMed and Web sites.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: from the analysis of reviews and articles it appears that music therapy can actively improve the well-being of the users to whom it is addressed in contexts very broad and cross-cutting both groups (children, elderly, disabled, and others), in terms of problems (adaptation and social interaction, verbal and non-verbal quality of life of people in the terminal, reducing levels of anxiety and pain, and much more).
CONCLUSIONS: the study shows that it is possible, and planned the use of music therapy in nursing care planning. Conducting further studies on this, on a larger population can confirm and validate the effectiveness of music therapy as a tool to raise the standard of living of the individual sick or healthy.
