Abstract
With this work I wanted to highlight the importance of the role of the nurse in the management and care of the patient that faces the perioperative course of total shoulder arthroplasty, emphasizing the skills that a professional must possess in order to provide effective assistance. In the first chapter I discussed the anatomical aspect of the shoulder; in the second I described the arthrosis, specifying the main risk factors, prevention, diagnosis, and manifestations; in the third chapter I describe the types and characteristics of prosthesis, explaining the preference for the choice of a total joint replacement; in the fourth chapter I have examined the entire perioperative care pathway , from pre- admission to discharge, through the very important aspect of the management of post-operative pain, prevention of complications and rehabilitation. In the fifth and final chapter I developed the nursing diagnoses, goals and interventions appropriate to the type of intervention, as part of an effective and updated care planning.
