Abstract
This thesis explores the use of a class of drugs that is used in many hospitals and medical structures: benzodiazepines. These drugs have different properties, because of this are widely employed as anxiolitic, sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant adn muscle relaxant. I describe not only the pharmacological effects, but also the side effects, with particular relevance to the phenomena of addiction and abuse; this can happened as a result of prolungued use of the drug. Moreover, I focus the attention on the assistence during the therapy, nursing and therapeutic education.
