Abstract

This thesis aims to investigate, based on national standards and professional description, the particular shape of the nurse anesthesia employed in Italy, as it appears in literature, and then compare it with the one actually present on the territory of Modena (in the three local hospitals, which was administered a questionnaire: Policlinico, Baggiovara and Sassuolo) and in America, where instead this nursing faculty has assumed relevance and importance (there being the CRNA, nurses dedicated to anesthesia).
Just because in our country this figure nursing is not recognized (there isn't the qualification of "Nurse anesthetist" or "nurse anesthesia" ), this paper aims to investigate only what is truly present, based on an analysis of documents and from a questionnaire administered in the local community  and then provide to be an opportunity to research and future studies.
Therefore, the writer does not presume to satisfy a research question, but proposes a thesis compile-type.
No less important, the topic, although it may seem too ambitious for the particular nursing Italian reality, it is very current and instead wants to emphasize what is the true and real potential of nursing: greater autonomy, to which they bind certainly a greater responsibility and a more specific training, but providing better care and quality to the patient.
Finally, in a healthcare setting profoundly affected by the economic crisis and the logic of saving (sometimes even at the expense of quality of care), this paper also provides insights regarding economic policy hospital .
As you will see at the end of the discussion will be several advantages: for the patient, the healthcare professional nurses and for the National Healt System.
