Abstract
This thesis describes the work of the nurse in the care of the patient that will undergo an interventions to perform a ieum or colostomy. It is a non research thesis based on a serch of texts, articles from newspapers and magazines, and websites. It is structured in four chapters, each of which highlights various aspects of ostomy and assistance to patient. In the first chapter there is the definition and classification of the stomies, the main pathologies that requre the performance of stomies and the complications that can arise. The second chapterdeals with the role of the nurse in both in the pper end post period specifyng, both the technical aspects and relational. The third chapter is about one of the most important aspects for this type of patients the diet. The last one deals with the various organization that offer continuos assistance to the stoma patient,also opening a parenthesis on the figure of the stoam care nurse.
