Abstract
The earthquake that in may 2012 damaged Emilia Romagna and its population represented an effective maxi emergency. As consequence of tremors several Modena’s hospital was moved out, like Finale Emilia, Mirandola and Carpi; following this event the need to organize some PMA ( Advances Medical Point), temporary meeting and aid station, triage and treatment of victims during the calamity. Present work consider Carpi’s emergency room, during this dramatic situation .In particular I observed how triage was carried out, what protocols were used to face problems and what results were obtained, both in hospital's building and during the period in camp (PMA). Moreover I analyzed the work of ambulance’s nurses, focusing my attention on their autonomy about patient’s management and their “centralizing”, this means how many times they have chosen according to their ability to direct the patient to an hospital over another because, for example, more suitable to hospitalization. Present data highlight that the use of protocols, such as fast-track, during triage affords better management of patients in emergency situation; moreover it emerged that incidence in panic attacks and trauma has been significantly increased, similarly because of the correlation between these patologies and earthquake event.
