Abstract

The most common cause of severe hypoventilation in the traumatized patient is represented by Pneumototace ( PNX ) . In the case of PNX " hypertensive " the large intrathoracic vessels are compressed and the return of blood to the heart is reduced so much that can quickly lead to cardiac arrest . The tension pneumothorax is a rare complication that affects about 1-2 % of all patients with pneumothorax and is a medical emergency that , in the absence of appropriate interventions , can become lethal. The expertise required to nurse 118 is the ability to carry out an assessment of the patient , recognize the state of criticality and you can choose to make a life-saving maneuver : the ' execution of the exploratory puncture . The process of continuity of care requires that the patient receives the most appropriate treatment in the acute phase and that his condition does not worsen as a result of complications during transport or in the emergency department , which is why nurses working all ' inside of the hospital are still responsible for continuous investigations of assistance to the positioning of chest drainage and its management total . The following case report is a patient who reported PNX hypertension and who underwent decompression by nurses of 118 - MO relief , before being transported to the emergency room of Baggiovara ( NOCSAE ) . The care process described highlights some points of uncertainty as the activation delay Analgesia Protocol or poor communication , whether written or oral, between professionals and 118 of the Emergency Department . The conclusion is that the ' team should be considered advanced when the staff that composes it is able to implement the procedures and protocols established by the guidelines of reference as a result of an investigation aimed at identifying the conditions immediately dangerous to life patient.
