Abstract

This thesis analyzes such as stroke being a time-dependent pathology requires the adoption of measures for its rapid and accurate detection and management. This aspect must be taken into account right from the pre-hospital, where it is necessary to drastically reduce the response time to be able to refer the patient to the hospital most suitablein accordance with certain criteria for inclusion or exclusion for thrombolytic therapy. In this pathway, the nurse has a fundamental role from the call until the activation of the emergency vehicle adequate and after the nurse is responsible for managing of the patient from the arrival on the scene of the intervention until the transport to appropriate hospital. Infact the nurse must connect the different components of the knowledge, skills and above all the experience in the field to be able to recognize through a careful evaluation, planning, programming and implementation of the individual patient's needs in a timely manner. The foundations of his actions are based on the guidelines, procedures and protocols for stroke and after on the different interventions depending on the clinical case. Modena's ambulances are composed mainly of crew with the nurse and driver, this organizational structure allows the nurse practitioner to have a greater autonomy and therefore a greater responsibility related to the outcome. Continuing education is an essential element for ensuring the prompt recognition of the signs / symptoms of stroke and reduce the response time by centralizing the patient correctly. Finally it is necessary to increase the organization of clinical audits related to neurological diseases, because they improve the quality of care and the technical dimension of the nurse.
