Abstract

The object of this thesis is the application of taxonomy NANDA-NIC-NOC ( NNN ) to the nursing diagnosis of acute/chronic pain in the clinical context of pediatrics in Sassuolo (MO). This paper shows how health professionals can guide the children as well as their parents to help them in times of acute pain, chronic pain or painful procedures; it also shows how to help him receiving painless nursing care, in order to reduce discomfort during the hospital stay. We will refer to child as an individual both in the period of middle childhood (child by 2/5 years) and in the school age (child by 6/11 years) when he has reached a physical development which allows him to be autonomous, independent and strengthen his skills through exploration, discovery and new stimulations.
The first chapter deals with the "pain of child", starting from the basics on nociception, its various types and their evaluation and measurement; it will underline the importance of family/care-giver and the need that it be educated and helped trough health education.
The second chapter sheds light on the nursing care process, explaining how it is done, how it is composed and articulated. In order to improve and make innovative nursing work, it will be used NNN taxonomy, providing an organic and standardized definition recognized worldwide. Moreover, it outlines the general characteristics of the results (NOC) and the interventions (NIC).
The third chapter finally talks about the search results and specific interventions for the diagnosis of acute/chronic pain in children, in order to draw up an organic table which fits the actual operational reality of Sassuolo pediatric Hospital, which can be used in clinical practice, to kick off the collection of data necessary required to provide scientific evidence to the nursing interventions.
