Abstract
The acute respiratory failure is still one of the most frequent causes of access to the Emergency-Urgency System. Due to the innumerable causes determining it, acute respiratory failure may affect all age groups and require an emergency action since the patient’s domicile, where a definitive treatment can be started to be continued in the hospital setting.The aim of this thesis is to understand whether there is uniformity in pre-hospital treatment in the area of Modena and province. Or, if every medical team takes decisions about the treatment to be adopted according to its own training.In order to give an answer to my question, I analyzed the patient-cards of Modena and province and then compared the data collected. Through the inclusion criteria, 1240 cards have been analyzed. Among them,102 cases have been considered possible EPA. This research allowed me to collect data and information on the treatments, as well as on the most affected groups and on the different approaches that may be adopted depending on the emergency place. The results highlighted the need to create a nursing management protocol to define evidence-based procedures of assistance for patients affected by EPA.
