Hyperglycemia is common in critical ill patients, even those without a history of diabetes.
Regarding the hospitalized patient in the ICU(intensive care unit) reference is made to the instability of hemodynamic,metabolic and ventilatory condition.In a critical medical condition,glycemic test seems the last to be considered,but it is of great importance. Many studies have prove  Hyperglycemia compromises the prognosis ,worsened clinical outcome and increase the risk of death.

This therapy is practiced following medical Protocol.
There are many protocols for nursing management about intensive insulin therapy,each of this applied to a specific health care setting;
There are no comparative studies regarding the protocols, for with there is no scientific evidence that lead to favor one over another.
